As different ethnic groups have moved to this place, they also bring different cultures, languages, religious beliefs and customs, and thus Taiwan has become an island of diverse and complex social and cultural characteristics. Even though different governments have tried to make their cultures the dominant one through various political efforts, over time, the diversity of Taiwan’s culture has never been eliminated. In today's global environment, the concept of the ethnic diversity and harmony has become a prerequisite for civilized societies. This study tries to analyze the implementation of multi-ethnic integration strategies in Taiwan from the perspective of global citizen consciousness and discuss the multi-cultural characteristics of our immigrant society, the political development process, the change of citizens' consciousness and the crisis of national identity, and then provide the following recommendations: First, we should upgrade the level of global citizen awareness and practice the common values of the world community with an open attitude. Second, different political parties should face up to the current crisis of national identity with respect for our multicultural history. Third, we should strengthen the multi-cultural policy with an emphasis on equal citizenship for everyone. By doing so, Taiwan as a democratic society can preserve its cultural diversity and treat all its citizens with a more tolerant attitude while joining force with the global community.
