Description
Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 國際經營與貿易學系 === 105 === It has been increasingly important for the development of the leisure and tourism industry through public events such as festivals, sightseeing and commerce. By organizing various regional events, it enhances not only the value of leisure, but also the prosperity of local economy. Due to the regionality of public activities, the benefits and effects of the choice of venue for public events are important issues. The existing literature on folk festivals and cultural activities mainly focuses on the benefits generated by activities; nevertheless, little attention has been given to the location choice of public activities. This essay will employ a spatial model to explore the optimal location choice of public activities by governments and the possible policy implications behind the choice. The extant literature has contributed a lot to the location competition and the choice of the firms’ location. What seems to be lacking is, however, the choice of location for public events. In view of this, the essay aims to construct a spatial model to analyze the government's location choice for public events under various policy objectives. This study could be helpful to policy authorizers when planning public activities and evaluating the possible economic benefits.
