In different times and regions, it has usually been interpreted by designers and the results show pluralistic appearance. As a designer seeking for a spatial identity of culture, this phenomenon becomes the motivation and background. In the research process, "Extensional Thinking" is the methodology to explore the different aspect, and applied to the design. The research can be divided into three parts, first, through the "Ways of interpretation" to understand the object context and applied to the case study research. Second, by envisioning the relationship between "Ming Style round-backed armchair" and body of the curve, the space of the proposed space to define the shape and use of space. Third, the implementation of the modular design as a consideration to design a series work "Ning Collection". In addition, the designs are displaying by six 1: 4 scale model, an armchair. Fourth, through interviews with three designers to receive feedback, and as the implementation of the suggested further extensional thinking and design "Family Ning" as a result of the design adjustment. In the end, the research process will be summed up in three points, "the fascination of the Ming Style round-backed armchair", ways of extensional thinking" and "the reflection of design creation" KUAN, CHENG-NENG 官政能 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 105 zh-TW
