This history was not only the beginnings of Taiwan's national freedom and also the important social memories in Taiwan development. However, the National 228 Memorial Museum is one of the institutions which exactly retained the most complete information. Through the media remodeling and reproduction of the memorial process, visitors have the opportunity to shape the construction of new memories, and to transform into the growth of educational knowledge learning and cultural development of conservation. Moreover, the concept of dark tourism research has been applied to the domestic and foreign research related to such a negative social memory. Therefore, this concept of dark tourism has been applied into this study and the National 228 Memorial Museum has been set as the research field, through the collection of empirical data, literature review and the current observation method to develop an interview outline of the questionnaire, and total 20 visitors has been recruited after their visiting the National 228 Memorial Museum. Depth interviews and grounded theory have been adopted to the data collection and then further analysis of the contents from the data to explore how visitors formed personal gazing experience and transformation process from the pictures and documentation copy. The final conclusions are:(1) Through analysis the attribute of the symbol, the source of the gazing stimulus is categorized as "event", "item", "person" and "space". (2) Dark memories focus on six gazes: "conflict", "scare of scars", "dying", "disappearance of memory", "double-sided differentiation" and "terrorist command". (3) Visits of dark memories contain six experiences, including: "experiential cognition", "emotional understanding", "reflection of democracy", "emotional context", "atmosphere creation", " and "traumatic experience". (4) Visitors are represented by six types of social memory:the one who can be " taking it to heart" , "self-centered", "inherited", "enlightened", "traumatic experience" and " thinking ahead". Finally, This study suggests that the gaze of the memorial helps visitors to shape the social memory. The experience of dark memories can lead to social communication and repair of fissure culture chimeric, and even have a catharsis and revise the social perspective, to promote dialogue and other functions. Learning about the results from the National 228 Memorial Museum offers an enrich but equally authentic encounter with the subject as visits to this sites. Our research calls to value the existed nature from negative social memory and expects to contribute the practical work and management operations in museum.
