Stroke episodes are temporarily overlooked, and delayed gold treatment periods. When the thrmbus was removed, it will occur a cascade of blood reperfusion result in the brain injury, such as active cell death mechanisms, excitotoxicity and ionic imbalance, oxidative and nitrosative stress, apoptotic-like pathways, inflammation marker and the neurovascular factors. We hope that we can therapy this "invisible killer" with traditional Chinese medicine. This study is to evaluate the effects in ischemic stroke rat model by Bu Yang Huan Wu Soup and Tianma Gouteng. In this study, two common carotid arteries and the middle cerebral artery (MAC) of the brain were tied knot for 90 mins in SD rats (about 6 weeks old, weighing about 250-300 g/BW). Then blood vessels were released and the blood was reperfusion to simulate the process of removing the thrombus after six hours of human acute stroke. The postoperative rats were given different concentrations of Bu Yang Huan Wu Soup and Tianma Gouteng. Our results demonstrated that rats were treated with Bu Yang Huan Wu Soup and Tianma Gouteng, the cerebral infarction was significant ameliorated. In TTC stain, we found that the brain injury had been reduced and shrink down when the rats were fed with Bu Yang Huan Wu Soup and Tianma Gouteng, similar results also shown in high dose treatment. The brain of rats with cerebral ischemic reperfusion showed inflammation and cell infiltration with hematoxylin and eosin staining, Bu Yang Huan Wu Soup and Tianma Gouteng reduced the inflammation burden both in lower and high dose. In conclusion, our data demonstrated that Bu Yang Huan Wu Soup and Tianma Gouteng can improve the brain injury and inflammation in rats with cerebral ischemic reperfusion.
