Two kinds of sensorless vector control methods are presented. The first method uses the inverter voltage, motor current and preset motor parameters to estimate the motor Back Electromotive Force (EMF) voltage. Sliding Mode observer is employed to enhance the estimator to achieve precise motor speed control and rotor angle estimation. The second method is the high frequency signal injection method. It utilizes the injection of the D-axis high frequency voltage signal and then extracts the high frequency signal of the motor current to estimate the angle, position and speed. The Back EMF method is suitable for the medium and high speed range operation, and the high frequency injection method is suitable for starting motor and the low speed range operation. This thesis utilizes the characteristic of these two sensorless control methods and a combination of these two methods is proposed. The resulted sensorless control can achieve a smooth speed control in the full speed range. The fully digital controller of the proposed method is realized using Texas Instruments digital signal processer, TMS320F28335. The firmware is programmed with the auxiliary design of the PSIM SimCoder. An 1.6kW motor drive is Developed.
