Find out the correlation between the accelerated weathering test and outdoor exposure test to establish the time corresponding mode. Finally, propose a method to evaluate service life of coating system of steel. The tests of this research contain accelerated weathering test, accelerated corrosion test and outdoor exposure test. The substrates of specimens are aluminum except that they are iron in the salt spray test (accelerated corrosion test). The coating system of steel usually uses polyurethane resin and fluorine resin in surface coating, epoxy resin in middle coating and inorganic zinc rich prime. These coating materials are obtained from three companies. In the accelerated weathering test, evaluate the weathering resistance of the surface coating materials by the lights of Xenon arc and UVB-313. On the other hand, we use salt spray for testing the coating system (middle coating and primer). Furthermore, we measure gloss, the chromatic aberration and thickness for each specimen in the test. According to the testing data, regional climatic conditions and references included, we assess the durability by three types of performance which are weathering resistance, appearance and corrosion resistance.
