Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電子工程系 === 105 === The most convenient way to obtain data services across borders to world travelers is through international mobile roaming from current mobile operators. Nevertheless, all international data roaming services requires home routed traffic, which increases operating costs at mobile operators, burdens the terminal prices, and eventually forces users to become silent roamers; not using roaming services from current mobile operators. In the other hand, international Wi-Fi roaming, unlike typical free public Wi-Fi which has security issues, suffers from limited range in services, bill shock situations from auto-switching between mobile and Wi-Fi networks, and over charges from users forgetting to turn off Wi-Fi automatic connection setting with EAP-SIM authentication, results in customers less willingness to use. This thesis aims to discuss practical issues from international mobile data roaming and international Wi-Fi roaming services in heterogeneous network integration. Actions discussed in this thesis includes combing international data roaming in two heterogeneous networks from two foreign internet providers, using mobile networks to authenticate Wi-Fi roaming to eliminate over charges, providing Local Break Out solutions in terminal device features and system-side services, fusing mobile with Wi-Fi networks to reduce cost, and upgrades in billings and service processes. Solutions above may give operators opportunities to offer clients higher quality in services and more room for development in the future.
