Although the government has launched a ten-year long-term care program in 2007, the issue of long-term care is very sticky and news related to miserable life is usually exposed. People perceiving how to handle with long-term care are not on the increase and previous study indicated that when caregivers are around the stress of long-term care, they could not cope with these loadings very well. Therefore, this study proposes that in addition to patients, caregivers shall be involved as a part long-term care program. Moreover, the government and associations should focus on caregiver issue, like emotion and stress management, in order to provide a service quality of long-term care program and help the family caregivers. This study noted that interviewing caregivers of family long-term care deeply might help us to understand benefit and improvement in the current program that we do not even know. The present study adopts purposive sampling for collecting data. The result from interviews indicated that nearly 50 % of interviewees know ten-year long-term care program. The services offered by this program are not completely used. This consequence is resulted from caregivers and patients’ psychological factors— because they cannot take other specialists’ help, their stresses are not eliminated by long-term care program (i.e., the functions of home-based care, residential nursing, residential rehabilitation and respite care are not available). Residential case, especially recruiting nursing workers as caregivers, is a major option for family long-term care in Taiwan. Accordingly, the impact on these families is economic issue. Because of economic distress and pension reform, regular cost in III household expenditure will be a challenge for families that have the needs of long-term care. This study summarize that in addition to enhance individuals’ awareness in long-term care, the government should make a connection between business insurance and policy and project related to long-term care. In that case, the ratio of foster will decent and people would not worry about economic pressures.
