In the Name of Love is employed to project the creator’s hard times while growing up as well as his profound feelings into the dramatis personae. Not a faithful account of what has happened; however, the film assumes a semi-autobiographical tone: the yearning for love, the questions and conflicts run through the plot. The mother-son fixation as well as the love lessons feature heavily in the film. “Codependency” and “independence” between parents and children have always been an issue that needs to be addressed. Parents interfering in the name of love will only impede the individual’s growth as well as preclude the learning opportunities. Nevertheless, it is precisely such love that all emotional and family entanglements as raged on can be resolved, with understanding and tolerance, by reaching a compromise between one another. This thesis is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1 Introduction: the creation background, origin, and expected results are explained. The promotion, screening, and entering the competition are planned in advance. Chapter 2 Literature Review: relevant research materials for creating this film, such as “helicopter parents,” “the influence of the parent-child relationship on children's personality development,” “the parent-child boundaries and interaction patterns among local university students,” and “the impact of the family of origin on university students' attitudes towards love,” are discussed one by one. Related films, in terms of their inspiration and value for this film, are shown and described step by step. Chapter 3 Creation Description: regarding the screenwriting, film title design, and film representation, this chapter addresses respectively the creation concepts, design meanings, and presentation style. Chapter 4 Execution of the Film: concerning the pre-production period, production period, and post-production period, this chapter deals with the progress of work, technique application, mise-en-scène, and such difficulties and breakthrough. Chapter 5 Screening and Conclusion: the overview of the public screening is described; questions from the audience and immediate responses from the director, producers, and actors during the forum after the screening are recorded. In addition, the creation process of the film is examined and summarized in a profound manner. Finally, attached are a complete script, income and expenditure statement, production schedule, and screen credits for presenting the whole creation process and the related information.
