Research institute IHS predicted that there will be at least one smart phone product using 3D-touch technology for every four phones in 2016. The use of 3D-touch will dramatically change the way users interact with the devices. This study aims to explore the possibility and potential advantages of this novel human-computer interaction method, as well as the differences, usability and application scenarios among 3D-touch, Multi-touch and other touch technologies. Moreover, combined with the past non-pressure sensing gestures, existing gestures and 3D-touch gestures, we will establish a structural taxonomy of gestures, derived from continuity, touching-time, touching-point, pressure these four main categories. Finally, user evaluation test design and further discussion will be done on the innovative applications of 3D-touch gestures and its future development potential.
