This research used a narrative approach to understand home-care worker’s grief and bereavement experience. Relying upon narrative inquiry, semi-structured and in- depth interviews, this study focused on the life and working experience of care- workers and tried to understand the interpretation and meaning of clients’ death and to what extent they are prepared and mourning for this experience. The results of this research are as follows: 1. Home-care workers describe their work as highly personalized caring labor, but this characteristic is disregarded in the management of home care management. 2. It’s important for the care workers not only to involve in the relationship with service recipients, but also to balance affection and professional boundaries. 3. The care workers are unable to grieve when facing the clients passed away, so they are overwhelmed with the emotional impact of each loss, the cumulative burden of ongoing grief, and the lack of support from the organization. The care workers finally have to be on their own to change their mind. Wan-I Lin 林萬億 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 170 zh-TW |
