A Survey on Sexual Victimization among College Students：Prevalence, Risk Factor and Formal Disclosure

碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 心理學研究所 === 105 === In recent years, an increasing number of news of sexual victimization has gained awareness in Taiwan. It is worth to noting that, although sexual harassment and sexual assault are occurring at an alarming rate, the possible risk factors of such victimization are still not well understood. Furthermore, the reasons for why most victims do not disclose or report their experiences are not clear. The present research used an anonymous online survey to investigate the occurrence of unwanted sexual experiences of college students. Results indicated that the prevalence of sexual victimization among female students were higher than that of male students：43.8% were victims of sexual harassment; 9.7% were victims of molestation; and 6.2% of female students had been victims of at least one attempted or completed sexual assault since entering college. This study’s findings supported previous research highlighting the vicious cycle of victimization experiences, especially those who had a history of intimate partner sexual violence. Detailed results regarding the context of victimization, perpetrator characteristics, and reasons for non-reporting were obtained in order to inform prevention and intervention practices for sexual victimization of college students.
