Also, this study investigates the resistance strategy of gays in facing the reproduction of gender hegemony. This study collects the data by in-depth interviews, in an attempt to understand how the interviewees acquire their gender traits displayed by the gay communities. As this study discovers, some interviewees in Taiwan reproduce gender hegemony from the heterosexual communities in which they grow up. For this reason, concerning their body performance, these interviewees stick to the principles of manhood by weight training or wearing a certain brand of clothing, and they even request other members of the gay communities to do likewise. Besides the reproduction of gender hegemony, this study also discovers that the gay communities in Taiwan have translated the code of fitted clothing into a sign to identify each other and to develop their gender identity. This study concludes that the resistance strategy for hegemonic masculinity among the gay communities can be explored through the gender-related courses, feminist-informed trainings, and LGBT associations.
