Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 體育學系碩士班 === 104 === This study investigated the basketball sports writing in Taiwan, and performed a structural analysis on general status of basketball sports writing in Taiwan, in an attempt to probe into the in-depth image of textual representation of basketball sports writing and propose the “re-interpretation” of humane care and sports cultural structure of phenomenon of basketball sports writing. This study attempts to uncover the sports spirit and meaning reflected in sports texts in the market of basketball sports books in Taiwan, which is the core value of this study.
This study used structuralism, textual analysis, and interviews to perform investigations, selected the books written by writers in Taiwan for “basketball sports writing” as the research scope, and selected the works of Wang-yun Hsu as the research objects.
By observing, imagining, understanding, and analyzing people’s perception of sports world, writing is experiences, inheritance, and media to embody and understand sports. This study analyzed textual works of sports to understand the surface structure (external image) reflected in writing image and investigate the deep structure (spiritual meaning) behind, in order to interpret them. Therefore, the information conveyed in the characteristics in sports world and the image of sports writing is mutually associated and continuous. This study used structural analysis to re-construct the appearance of sports writing. The research results are as follows:
1. Relevant basketball sports writing in Taiwan started to appear in the 1980s, and reached its peak in the 1990s. The works can be divided into legends, historical materials, creation, perspectives of famous experts, and translation works. Most of them were written by male writers, and almost none of them were written by female writers. It seems that there was a lack of possibility of diversity in the masculine basketball sports.
2. The writing idea of basketball of Wang-yun Hsu is to use diversified perspectives of literati and literary writing methods to reflect the understanding of “beauty” in
basketball sports in a textual manner, to view basketball skills, and image inside and outside basketball court from more perspectives, and to inject more humane care into basketball sports.
3. The textual works of basketball sports of Wang-yun Hsu is filled with the perspective of “binary opposition,” “symbolic meanings” of people, things, and matters, and in-depth understanding and association of image occurring inside and outside of basketball court, which formed a unique perspective in basketball sports writing.
