Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 進修部暑期課程與教學碩專班 === 104 === The purpose of this study is to analyze the teacher professional development evaluation and teaching efficiency of primary school teachers, in the remote areas of the Kaohsiung and Pingtung region, to understand the different variables in these teachers’ backgrounds and figure out the distinctness and relationship between their teacher professional development attitudes and the actual situation.
This study used the questionnaire survey method to research the primary school teachers employed in the remote areas of the Kaohsiung and Pingtung region. We started out, using our self-designed 「Questionnaire on Primary School Teachers’ Attitudes on Teacher Professional Development Evaluation and Teaching Efficiency in the Remote Areas of the Kaohsiung-Pingtung Region」. A total of 500 sets of questionnaires were issued and 393 valid ones were recovered, which represents an effective recovery of 88.12%. Descriptive statistics, independent T-Test, one-way ANOVA technique and the Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and other statistical methods were used to recover the data. And Scheffe’s Hypothesis Testing was utilized for verification purposes, with the following conclusions reached:
1. The attitudes of primary school teachers in the remote areas of Kaohsiung-Pingtung region on their professional development evaluation, is above average. Regarding the 「outcome appraisal application 」the perspective is greatest, while the「purpose of appraisal」is the lowest.
2. The perception of primary school teachers in the remote areas of Kaohsiung-Pingtung region on their teaching efficiency, is found to be middle to high. Regarding the 「teaching assessment and class management 」the perception is highest, while the「application of teaching strategies」is the lowest.
3. In the 「Purposes of Appraisal」section, the number of teachers, with more than four years of experience in participating in the professional development evaluation, is significantly higher than those who did not participate.
4. In the 「System Guidelines Appraisal」section, the teachers’ attitudes were significantly better for those with 6 to 10 years of service than those with 16-20 years of service and among the teachers from the region of Kaohsiung than those of Pingtung County.
5. The teaching efficiency of primary school teachers in the remote areas of Kaohsiung-Pingtung region, has a middle to high performance, is not subject to gender, age, degree of education, service position, years of service, participation in professional development of teachers evaluation experience and difference in regions where the schools are located.
6. The attitudes of primary school teachers working in the remote areas of the Kaohsiung-Pingtung region on their professional development evaluation shows low positive correlation with their teaching efficiency at various levels. While on the other hand, the number of years of experience in participating in the evaluation of the teachers’ professional development and the teachers’ teaching efficiency show no correlation.
Finally, based on these findings and conclusions, the educational authorities, concerned with schools in remote areas, teachers employed to work in these areas as well as for future researchers, will put forward concrete recommendations for reference.
