Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 進修部暑期國語文補救教學碩士班 === 104 === The research subjects are the students who underachieved on Mandarin Chinese of the ninth grade. The study improves the effect of learning characters of classical Chinese, leads students to comprehend the surface information of articles and enhances their learning interests in classic Chinese by the teaching strategy of picture thinking. The research takes the action research method and plans four-week teaching time. By the evaluation forms of learning incomes of students’ image-text performances, assessments on immediacy and delay tests, the teaching of imagination thinking is verified to determine if it is effective or not. In addition, the research collects data through student questionnaires, interview transcriptions and teachers’ notes on teaching. As the research results shown, the imagination teaching has a highly stable effectiveness to help students who underachieved in classical Chinese to comprehend the literal meaning. It can improve the ability of using characters of classical Chinese via connecting images and characters. Students were unanimous believing that it is helpful for learning classic Chinese, and it was more suitable for them than traditional oral method. They also felt interested in the classroom activities after they have classes with the picture teaching method.
