Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 經濟學系 === 105 === Recently, the low total fertility rate in Taiwan is concerned by government and society. The authorities implement series of favorable fertility policies but in vain. The total fertility rate in Taiwan is the third from last in the world so far. To find out the causes of the low total fertility rate in Taiwan and analyze the impact of education, cost and social value on total fertility rate and the level of social welfare, the thesis bases on the Croix and Doepke (2003) overlapping generations model with social environmental externalities. Furthermore, the thesis analyzes how the subsidies for fertility and education by government will impact. According to the analysis, the thesis draws the following conclusions: If we aim to raise total fertility rate and the level of social welfare, we should raise the impact of social value on fertility and control the impact of social value on education.
