Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 藝術與造形設計學系碩士班 === 103 === Wong Kar-Wai is known for his uniqueness in imagery narrative and precisely captures the psycho states of Hong Kong people in different historical periods. The thesis analyzes six films of Wong Kar-Wai: Days of Being Wild, Chungking Express, Happy Together, In the Mood for Love, 2046, and The Grandmaster, and compares them with the history of Hong Kong in British colonization period to post-returning period, to point out that these movies correspond to the modern history of Hong Kong and China. Most of the researches recognizes works of Wong Kar-Wai as a symbolic milestone of "post-modernism", however the thesis argues that, through his latest work The Grandmaster, Wong actually intends to reconstruct the modern history of Hong Kong. The rebuilt of collective memories of "grand narrative" enables individuals under colonialism and the resulting national division to seek the common grand while reserving the differences, which might be the standpoint of mutual understanding between the people in Hong Kong and in China.
