碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 教育經營與管理學系 === 105 === The Influential Factors of College Students’ Choices of Major : Taking National Taipei University of Education as Example Abstract The purpose of this study is to find out the influential facts of college students' choice of major in higher education. A questionnaire method was applied. A total of 424 valid questionnaires were collected from the first year freshmen of National Taipei University of Education in the 104th academic year. The overall effective return rate was 86.5%. Date were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t test, Analysis of Variance(ANOVA) and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. Results showed that college students are affected by multiple factors in the choice of major, which consider individual factors and employment factors. Different pathways of enrollment and types of school might affect the choice of college students. Students from the Stars Plan and Individual Application pathways might pay more attention to personal factors than the Examination Distribution students. Besides, findings showed that students from the School of Education and the School of Science were more concerned with social and employment factors than students from the School of Arts and Humanities, and students from the School of Education were more concerned with school factors than students from the School of Arts and Humanities. But, college students' choice of major were not different because of gender, voluntary order, and parental education level. Based on the above findings, some suggestions were as follows as a reference for the future development of the university. (a)Increasing the opportunities of cross-field learning to cultivate students' multiple abilities. (b)Providing information on the source of the school system as a reference for students to choose the major. (c)Rethinking the student enrollment quota allocation in order to recruit students who are really interested. (d)Understanding the various sources of students in different school as a reference for enrollment strategy. (e)Considering the influential factors of college students’ choice of major in institutional research for decision-making in school management.
