A three-cycle hermeneutic circle is designed to provide a balanced and closer structural examination of the text, and in an attempt to raise a new perspective to the understanding of love loss. This thesis shows three characteristics in the love loss experience of Zoë: the first is the traumatic response induced by the infidelity of her partner; the second is how Zoë oscillates violently between love and hatred, and moves from distancing of death to fully embracing it; and the third is her detachment of ties with reality near the end of the text, and her wallow in bygone memories. Reading these from the unconscious, Zoë faces three critical facts-of-life challenges, and her internal object relation becomes disturbingly dangerous. She tries to overturn and rebuild this object relation but proved futile. Step by step, she goes into a regression and finally returns to a prenatal state with no object relation. As Zoë fails to walk out of love loss and meets her tragic end, this thesis provides an interpretation of how her mourning process did not manage to complete as she severs ties with reality. Her violent reactions to love loss might stem from her early experience and latent psychopathology. The result of this thesis, in addition to stimulating more thoughts on this issue, also suggests people experiencing love loss should be aware of their connection with reality. Their family, friends, and counseling practitioners should also take note of this. Professional intervention such as counseling is recommended as love loss could create a huge life impact or develop into mental illness. HUNG, SU-CHEN 洪素珍 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 284 zh-TW |

碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 心理與諮商學系碩士班 === 105 === This thesis, from a psychoanalytic perspective, analyses the love lost experience of Zoë, the protagonist of Chiu Miao-chin's novel Last Words from Montmartre.
