Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the curriculum adaptation and needs of the Special Education Curriculum Guidelines for special education teachers in vocational high schools. Through the interviews of teachers, this study covered how they make arrangement and adaptation in each area of curriculum and what they would consider about when they make adaptation. The qualitative data were collected by some special education teachers included the teachers of resource room and the teachers of special education classes. The conclusions of the interviews were below:
1. Special education teachers in vocational high schools would have multiple consideration of making curriculum arrangement and adaptation when they put Special Education Curriculum Guidelines into practice. And they would pull out students from the original classes, add additional courses or combine the teaching into other courses.
2. Special education teachers in vocational high schools would take students’ abilities and needs into consideration when they make arrangement and adaptation in each area of curriculum.
3. The needs of vocational high school special education teachers are empowerment of their specialties, more supports from other people and also more equipments of environment.
