Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 社會與區域發展學系碩士班 === 105 === University museums used to focus on research and collection, but now they have gradually paid attention to the importance of exhibition and education. Due to the limitations in human resources and exhibition space, university museums face different challenges from typical museums in terms of education programs. Since the end of May, 2015, TAI NTU, the herbarium in National Taiwan University has attempted to hold children’s weekend activities on a regular basis. The author participated and recorded the activities from September, 2015 to December, 2016. During the process, various challenges and problems emerged at different stages. Thus, collaborative action research was adopted with the staff members and volunteers of the herbarium after each activity through the form of discussion. Moreover, the feedback given by the children and their parents was taken into consideration in order to revise the design of the following activities. Last but not least, the interviews with the team members in charge of the activities were conducted to better the understanding of the activities. The following conclusions derived from the study and analysis of the research. When museums undertake activities, they need to make good use of the collections and resources and consider children’s background knowledge to plan activities. The problems caused by lack of human resources and limitations of space can be solved by recruiting volunteers and making better use of the resources of universities. Therefore, the planning of activities can be more flexible than typical museums, which can bring about more interaction with the participants. The education programs held by university museums can thus achieve what museum and school education can’t by giving children opportunities to actively experience, explore and think. The study of the feedback sheets also makes it possible for the researcher to hear the voices different from the program planners’. Based on the above-mentioned conclusion, this research comes up with related suggestions for the herbarium, university museums and future researchers.
