Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 環境生物與漁業科學學系 === 105 === Etrumeus micropus is one of important species of coastal fisheries in Penghu. This study was aimed to investigate the age and growth of E. micropus by using characteristics of sagittas otolith. A total 129 out of 302 samples, caught in the coastal waters of Shuchiaoyu, Penghu during the period of May to December 2015, were aged by using the daily rings. The range of standard length (SL) and wet weight (W) are varied between 7.95 cm to 18.79 cm and 4.03 g to 75.93 g, respectively. The length-weight relationship was estimated as W=0.003SL3.516 (R²=0.957, n=302).
The relationship between otolith radius (OR) and SL as well as otolith rings (ORs) and SL were estimated as following:
OR = 0.047SL + 0.051 (R² = 0.763, n=139), and
ORs= 15.631SL-71.625 (R² = 0.8826, n=129), respectively.
The result shows the otolith growth was increased with the increases of standard length. According to the age determination using otolith characteristics, daily otolith increments of E. micropus were examined and ranged from 74 to 226 rings in this study. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were suggested and estimated as L∞= 22.65 (cm), K =0.192 (mth), and t0=-0.23 (mth). The spawning seasons of E. micropus occur during late winter to early summer, and the peak month of spawning are appeared on April and May.
