| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 流行音樂產業碩士專班 === 105 === This study aims to provide an analysis and interpretation of popular music, reviews the development of rock music since the 1950s and focuses on the 1980's guitar heroes and their works. One the other hand, I will provide in-depth interpretations from the actual player's point of view. This paper will analyze the solos of 80’s rock guitarist such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson and Shawn Lane. Furthermore, I will apply jazz harmony system to analyze their works and examine the materials used, modes, form in order to understand their playing and composition styles.
