Through purposeful sampling, two participants who met the research conditions were invited for in-depth interviews under the semi-structural interview guide. The interviews were analyzed by the "overall-content" analytical method in the narrative analysis. The life stories constructed by the witnessing children and their fathers were first presented, and then the individual stories and trans-stories were analyzed and discussed. The study result showed the following two parts: I. Connotation of Parent-child Relationship with Violent Father The experience of witnessing children varied with each individual, and their relationships with the fathers was unique rather than absolute. The connotation of the parent-child relationships between the two participants and their fathers could be divided into four dimensions: (1) The fathers who were unable to feel warmth were awkward at expressing love; (2) rationality was unequal to mood; (3) gender impacted the communication mode; (4) positive belief promoted positive relationship. II. Development Process of Parent-child Relationship with Violent Parent The parent-child relationship between a witnessing child and his/her father was constantly changing. The changes in the relationship arose from two aspects, including (i) swinging between alienated and close but longing for peace; (ii) love was present all the time. In the end, this study drew a conclusion based on the research results and proposed specific suggestions for counseling, education and related researches in the future.
