碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 105 === An Analysis and Performance Interpretation of Dietrich Schnabel’s 《Symphony No.1 in d-minor》 Student: LEE, I-CHIH Advisor: Professor HOU, CHIH-CHENG Master’s Program of Music, Department of Music, National University of Tainan Dietrich Schnabel, a composer and director of recorder ensemble, devoted to adapting and creating music composition with more than ten parts to achieve strong and diverse harmony. He expands the number of parts and extends the possibilities of richer and more diverse harmonic colorations and styles. This thesis consists of six chapters, the first one states the purpose, category, limitation, methodology and framework. The second one gives a brief introduction of recorder and its music, also discusses some representative works in different eras of history. The third chapter unfolds Dietrich Schnabel’s background and characteristics of his works. The fourth one focuses on the analysis of music structure of his《Symphony no.1 in d minor》, especially with formal and voicing analysis. The fifth chapter provides the performance interpretation of 《Symphony no.1 in d- minor》, with reference of music analysis and the author’s experience of performing this piece. The final chapter summarizes this study, to provide references to future educators and performers.
