Summary: | 碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 中國文學系 === 105 === Mr. Wang Shenzhong(王慎中) was born in the age of Ming Dynasty, Zhengde and Jiajing period(正德嘉靖年間). His growth and development came across the argument time between the fashion of Yangming the Philosophy of Mind and Zhu Xi academic discipline. Compared to the Song Dynasty, the Ming’s officials got more information and workers devoted to the theoretical study by means of discussion and debate. Therefore, many theories were turned and merged into/with others. In additions, the workers applied their thoughts to the approvement and reformation for the poetry, politic and war in the Ming Dynasty.
As for Mr. Wang Shenzhong, his achievement was great in two respects about the the philosophy and literature development. He became an officer early at 18 years old, but was ousted in the age of 33. He dedicated himself to the improvement of literature creation and thought demonstrations on his lifetime, until died at the age of 51. During the times of official, he spent more than ten years in touring around China and communicating with the Yangming the Philosophy of Mind scholars. In the meantime, he helped his good friend, Mr. Tang Shunzhi(唐順之), in the reformation of the old style literature. Mr. Tang Shunzhi who owned great achievement in the Philosophy of Mind, also contributed to the Mr. Wang Shenzhong thought about his future thinking. Finally, Mr. Wang Shenzhong created many discourses and theses from the combination of Zhu Xi, Yangming -thinking and Buddhism theories. He tried to merge the intrinsic value of various kinds of theories and led to a brand new model, the concept of “Yong-Qing Zhong-Jie(用情中節)”, which means “moderation for thinking, movement and methodology”.
Moreover, by the merging of various kinds of therories, he suggested the literati a good method to study the Qin and Han poetry. And then, he promoted the level of Tang and Song poetry in the old style literature reformation. In that time, the old style literature reformation was only made the copy of Qin and Han poetry. He thought that it was more connotation and approaching the ancient thinking for reformation.
