Although more out of rumors and fantasy, they are the important cultural assets of mankind. Elves are important cultural assets of mankind. Rumors about Taiwanese elves are oral spread among people or recorded in ancient books and literatures discretely. Phenomena of Taiwanese elves involved in a wide range are worth investigating. The study generalizes the cultural phenomena as three aspects, including people thinking change, communicative performance and social lives by using historical method, content analysis and text analysis as the main research approaches. The purpose of this study is to explore the elves of Taiwanese people 's thoughts, to elaborate the communicative phenomena of elves’ culture, and to analyze the social lives involved with Taiwanese elves in order to reveal the meaning of Taiwanese elves’ culture in the modern Chinese society. According to the results of this study, Taiwanese folks who are respectful and aweful to the elves at the same time have shown a contradictory attitude which can be said the projection of social reality and utilitarianism. Furthermore, the communication of Taiwanese elves’culture not only has the characteristics of folk literature, but also involves the interaction of creation and acceptance under the trend of “globalization”. At the same time it moves forward from “glocalization” to “logloblization” gradually. Besides, the communication of Taiwanese elves’ culture relates to the aspect of diverse social lives. Meanwhile, it not only has unique functions and influences, but also contains good energy and potential. Therefore, the elves’ culture in Taiwan needs to be revitalized. For research prospects, this study provides reflections and suggestions of the local culture, the development of types of elves, cultural symbolization and replication of successful experiences as follow-up researches’ reference.
