Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北護理健康大學 === 健康事業管理研究所 === 105 === Objective: To identify possible subgroups of Taiwanese elderly that varied in factors for dementia with latent class analysis (LCA) and to examine their association with dementia. Method: This is a correlational study by using secondary data sets. We performed LCA in two steps based on Taiwanese elderly form the National Health Interview Survey Original Database. Firstly, to identify possible latent classes of Taiwanese elderly that varied in factors for dementia with latent class analysis. Secondly, to examine the association between the latent classes and dementia. Results: We identified three latent classes of the risk factors of dementia: not health conscious-diabetes (12.47%), not health conscious-thinness (14.39%) and health conscious (73.14%). Odds ratio for conversion by class were 4.724 (95% CI=3.180-7.019) for the not health conscious-diabetes class, 4.754 (95% CI=3.248-6.959) for the not health conscious-thinness class, with the health conscious class as the reference. Conclusions: Membership in all two not health conscious classes was associated with greater risk of conversion to dementia. The health conscious, includeing exercise, healthy diet and social activity, may play an important role in prevention.
