When bamboo is utilized effectively as a design raw materials to develop creative bamboo products, it would be able to upgrade domestic bamboo processing technology and to enhance the commodity development, and further to facilitate country's economic development benefits. Bamboo lamps besides as the green design of the main goods, the product's shape feafures many cultural and creative values. Therefore, the design of the current bamboo lamp, should pay attention to the overall shape and the implied meaning. The purpose of this study was to use the plywood, bamboo veneer , bamboo tube, water paper, rice paper and bamboo charcoal paper as raw materials to design and produce ten bamboo functional lamps (named for Iceberg angle, High tower, Relationship, Missing angle, Bamboo song, Square and Round of reconciliation, Correspondence, Square harmony, Tolerance, Butterfly image) different from the traditional bamboo lamp style. In addition to provide aesthetic function, the bamboo lamp also increase the use of its health function, fully demonstrated the use of bamboo at different levels. After completed the works, the questionnaires were carried out on the four characteristics (function, material, hand-made and modelling design). Students from five college of the Pingtung University of Science and Technology were as the object of investigation and the questionnaire data uses SPSS Statistics 18 Statistical software for statistical analysis. Students pay more attention to the ideas of the function of the bamboo functional lamps (providing far infrared and the release of negative ions) and bamboo lamp material than other two issues of hand-made and modelling style. In the bamboo function lamps of <Butterfly image>, <Square of the reconciliation>, <Missing angle>, and <Square and round of reconciliation> four lamps in both the hand-made lamp and bamboo lamp material preferences have a significant differences between male and female. There are significant differences of preferences among different college students in the modeling style, hand-made, function and material of the bamboo functional lamps <Missing angle> and <Square of the reconciliation>. For the students came from different area, only the "Butterfly image"and "Bamboo song" both lamps, showed significantly different preference, in modeling style and hand-made. Only the "Iceberg angle", "High tower", and "Relationship" are superior to other seven kinds of functional lamps. And the lamps <Iceberg angle> has a significant difference from other lamp and have high evaluation in the sex, college and area. And the lamp <Missing angle> in the sex, college and area have low rating. We expect the designed products avaliable for consumers in the future.
