In Taiwan, the problems caused by the floor impact sound in apartments are increasing in decades. The structure of floating floor is an effective means for ameliorating the floor impact sound. This research focused on the correlation between the dynamic stiffness of resilient materials used for floating floor system and the floor impact sound reductions. In addition, extrapolating the values of floor sound impact reductions is also a significant part in this research. The result indicates the performance of floor impact sound reduction can be improved when the values of dynamic stiffness of resilient materials getting low. This research also compared the discrepancy between performance of full-size specimens and miniature specimens. The result indicates the miniature RC structure floating floor overrates the performance, but wooden stracture floating floor doesn’t. The thickness of rubber resilient materials over 8 mm with the value of dynamic stiffness below 50 MN/m3 can possess the ability reaching the weighted reduction in impact sound pressure (∆Lw) over 17 dB. Moreover, this research reasoned the values of dynamic stiffness of composite resilient materials by using the single resilient materials as bases, and the result shows the predictive values are similar with the measured values. This work verifies the extrapolating formulation works and can be a valuable reference for the relevant researches.
