Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 數學系 === 105 === The study focused on the problem-solving strategies and processes of grade eight students. The researcher studied six students in Kaohsiung County. The researcher modified the problem-solving mode of Schoenfeld(1985),and turned it into five stages. The researcher designed an exam of factors and multiples, and students have to think aloud before answering. Data were collected by thinking aloud, interview, and problem-solving records. The results can be demonstrated in three dimensions: problem-solving process, problem-solving strategies and the factors of problem-solving. Ⅰ. Problem-solving process is shown as following: Students with high math skills can understand the questions very well, analysis the questions, make plans, and do what they planed. Most of the time, without reminding, the other stage, check the answers, isn’t appear. On the other hand, students with middle and low math skills can only read the questions and analysis the questions. When they face difficulties during calculating, they might guess the answers or just give up. Ⅱ. Problem-solving strategies are shown as following: Students with high math skills often use basic math knowledge to solve problems. If the problems can’t be solved, students with high math skills will integrate knowledge and their old experience. On the contrary, students with middle and low math skills don’t realize the math knowledge, but use what teacher taught without thinking. Ⅲ.The factors of Problem-solving are as following: Math knowledge section, the successful problem-solvers are familiar with basic math knowledge, having plenty of problem-solving knowledge, and take advantage of old experience. However, the unsuccessful problem-solvers lack basic math knowledge;they can’t use their old experience as well. Affection and attitude section, the successful problem-solvers are interested in solving math problems;they have confidence and patience to do so. Keywords: problem-solving process, problem-solving strategies, math problem-solving
