Semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect qualitative data as the major source, along with quantitative data as supplement for analysis. The researcher interviewed eight high school music teachers, then conducted a survey to investigate the learning conditions of their students in the implementation of the world music curriculum. Return rate of the questionnaire was 100% with 160 effective responses. The interviewed were transcribed and analyzed by the semi-structured questions. Questionnaires were statistically analyzed, and utilized as triangular verification. The results were as followed: 1. High school music teachers in this study expressed a lack of world music related professional knowledge, even if they took related courses during pre-service training or participated in in-service training, there is still a feeling of inadequacy. 2. Due to limitation of the fragmented, short-term training, teachers in this study expressed that the world music related professional knowledge they have learned during both pre-service and in-service training were not helpful in terms of teaching. 3. Most teachers in this study employed lecture as the method of teaching world music. They tended to refer to textbooks as framework, then design the curriculum with supplementary materials. Majority of the teachers used tests as evaluation, minority of the teachers used oral presentation, performance, and study sheets. 4. The students supported the idea of implementation of world music in music classes. They felt devoted, and had the open mind to accept world music; and they were willing to continue exploring different styles of the world music from different regions. They also agreed with the value to preserve music cultures. 5. The dilemma the teachers encountered when teaching world music were: they believed they lack professional knowledge, there is lack of music teaching hours, the world musical instruments are not easily accessible; the hands-on activities are difficult to implement. 6. The teachers tended to seek solutions by referring to books and look up information on the internet, they also consult expertise when encounter problems in teaching world music. As a conclusion, suggestions were provided to high school music teachers, researchers, and educational institutions based on findings of the study. LEU, CHAU-YING 呂昭瑩 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 160 zh-TW |
