Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 美術學系 === 105 === Abstract For quite a long time, whether for better or worse, everything catches my eye in the daily life, and there’s a kind of ugliness considered to be beauty which I call Taiwanese kitsch. From decorations in front of homes to public artwork, the rudimentary nature of bad skills takes the form of, the combinatorial styles of both western and eastern cultures. Careless formation, forming interesting pictures one-‐after-‐the-‐other produce creations that are divorced from reality. At the same time, they are reflections of real life. The main discussion of my thesis is from the year 2014 until 2016 and of my own artwork, which mimics the creative method of outsiders, while integrating with my personal experience. It represents my admiration for “art brut” and my attraction to Taiwanese kitsch. In Chapters 1-‐3, I focus on the process of realizing my art projects from conception. In Chapter 4, I deconstruct my creations into four parts, each part introducing one series of my art works. These sections are as follows: “Taiwanese Mystery”, “Journey to the Underworld ” ,“ Sukhāvatī” and “Skull Girls”, each piece includes photography, painting and mixed media content. I expect the audience who see my creations to revalue how much they are unaware of Taiwanese street art, the passion of naïve artists, the original intention behind the art creation , and how Taiwanese kitsch has left an indelible imprint upon my life.
