Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄海洋科技大學 === 海事資訊科技研究所 === 105 === Recent years it is found that coastline erosion has long been a serious problem in Cijin City, Kaohsiung. In order to mitigate coastal erosion, Kaohsiung City Government was conducted a “Cijin Coastline Protection Project” using detached breakwater, offshore submerged breakwater, artificial headland and beach nourishment. The project was finished in August, 2013. Traditionally, a coastline measurement relies on manpower. However, the measurement is hard to proceed precisely because the measured errors of coastal lines might be contributed by repeatable tidal motions. Note that the traditional measurement is time-consuming and costly; the results might not be satisfactory at certain locations.
For the sake of efficiency this study aims to analyze change of coastlines using Google Map. The satellite imagery of Cijin Coast from 2002 to 2017 was obtained from Google Earth. The changes of shoreline is analyzed using Matlab for analyzing the effectiveness of current coastal protection engineering. This study proposes a rapid method to explore the changes of the shoreline, upon which shoreline before and after the different protection construction are investigated. The comparisons on different coastal protection methods are reported.
