Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄海洋科技大學 === 海洋環境工程研究所 === 105 === This study compared the sediment characteristics, heavy metal content, enrichment factor (EF), geo-accumulation index (Igeo) and other heavy metal pollution indicators between the sediments core inside and outside the Kaohsiung Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (KODMDS). The examination of the impact of dumping harbor dredged sediments into the ocean on the heavy metal distribution in the sediments core of KODMDS. The relatively significant changes were found in particle size distribution of the disposal site, those of the outside disposal site were relatively stable. Compared with the sediments core outside the disposal site, the heavy metal enrichment and accumulation level in the disposal site were higher than those outside the disposal site, especially the content of Cr, Cu and Zn. However, the pollution load index (PLI), the mean effect range median quotient (m-ERM-q) and the potential ecological risk index (RI) of the sediments core inside (PLI=2.03±0.10, m-ERM-q=0.63±0.05, RI=61.98±2.60) and outside (PLI=1.36±0.45, m-ERM-q=0.40±0.15, RI=57.76±31.49) the disposal site all showed slight impact on the benthos inhabiting the disposal site. In addition, the concentration of heavy metals showed a slight correlation with the sediment properties (mud content and TOC) in the sediments core from KODMDS but significant correlation in the sediments core from the periphery of disposal site. The result also indicates that the content of heavy metal in the dredged sediments one of the major factors that account for the increased heavy metal content in the sediments of the disposal site.
