Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 自然資源與環境學系 === 105 === Flood is one of the common natural disasters in East Java, Indonesia. Given the fact that high level of runoff will lead to the higher rate of flood, analyzing and controlling the level of runoff is a necessary task. Previous literature have pointed some of the factors affecting runoff, one of them is land use changes. Since the data of land use changes in Indonesia is not as available as in other developed countries, most of previous methodologies cannot be used to analyze the effect of land use change on runoff. This study focuses on building a new way to measure the land use changes in developing countries like Indonesia. Satellite images and Semi-Automatic Classification plugin of QGIS were used to measure the changes in land uses. Linear regression then was conducted to establish the correlation between land use change and runoff. Data from 1999 to 2014 were collected and analyze to produce a more robust analysis compared to other studies. Results of this study show there is a negative relationship between the changes in forest cover and the level of runoff. Limitation and promised future research directions are discussed as well.
