My 「rolling」life-the story of a freestyle skating coach

碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 體育與運動科學系 === 105 === Taipei 2017 Universiade will be held in Taipei from August 19th to August 30th.The host country Taiwan listed Roller sports as one of the several events. Except speed skating, another event of roller sports is freestyle skating-speed slalom. One of two athletes of speed slalom represents Taiwan is from Hua-lien. This study amid to explore the whole experience of how a freestyle skating coach, Coach Yang, bring the speed slalom athletes from Hua-lien to the world by the methodology of life story research. Coach Yang is also the national team coach of freestyle skating in Taipei 2017 Universiade. Therefore, this study also explore the factors that cause coach Yang's high achievement in speed slalom coaching and the impact to his life's growth that has been made by his coaching experience. The researcher employed a method of narrative analysis by conducting semi-structured in-depth interviews with participants. The researcher contextualized the data of interview and made it a contextual narrative life story. The researcher find that the coach Yang's coaching experience can be divided into four periods：The early ageof life experience ,The early coaching experience in Hua-lien's skating rink, The coaching experience in Taichung, and the coaching experienceback to home town Hua-lien. The factors that cause coach Yang's high achievement in speed slalom coaching include：personal specialty in roller skating , positive attitude ,social environmental influence ,the support and help by important figures. The thirty-year coaching experience has been also promoting positive growth of his life career, family, and self-actualization. The researcher hoped that this study would increase the deeper understanding of a roller sports' coach. In the end, the researcher provided personal reflections and suggestions for people who are participating in roller sports according to the study process and results.
