A total of 854 students of 5 public and private high school students in Hualien County were selected as the research object. The concept of marine science of high school students was discussed by questionnaires and interviews. The results show that students have six common types source of an answer of marine concept include "memory recitation", "memory link error", "lack of information", "pre-knowledge and experience inference", "appearance judgment", " Literal inference ".The average score of students in the ocean concept assessment questionnaire is 69.5%. The results of the students' marine concepts under different variables are as follows: female students' marine concept performance is same with male students; the second grader’s marine concept scores higher than the first graders and third graders respectively; students who choose natural science program get higher scores than the students who choose social science program. Besides, most students access to the knowledge about oceans through television media, Internet, animation movies and documentary films.
