Using Peptide Inhibitors of Human Squalene Synthase to Inhibit the Growth of Multiple Myeloma Cells

碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 生命科學系 === 105 === Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a disease caused by abnormal plasma cells. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is an essential growth factor for MM cells and it can activate PI3K/AKT pathway, JAK/STAT pathway, and RAS/MAPK signaling pathway. These pathways affect anti-apoptosis and pro...

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is an essential growth factor for MM cells and it can activate PI3K/AKT pathway, JAK/STAT pathway, and RAS/MAPK signaling pathway. These pathways affect anti-apoptosis and proliferation in MM cells. Among them, AKT plays an important role in PI3K/AKT pathway. Cholesterol plays important roles in living cells. Human Squalene Synthase, the rate-limiting enzyme locates at the downstream of cholesterol synthesis pathway. Preliminary data show that some peptides can inhibit the growth of myeloma cells. Whether this is an induced-apoptosis phenomenon by these peptides waits for further investigations. Jung-Hsin Hsu 許榮欣 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 51
