It makes student-athletes lack the exploration of career and cultivation of other abilities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among proactive personality, self-identity status, perceived others’ self-identity status and proactive career behavior in students of sports-related departments. Furthermore, the moderating effects of self-identity status and perceived others’ self-identity status were tested. The research participants are college students of sports-related departments in Taiwan, and totally 212 valid subjects were collected. The questionnaire consisted of four scales, measuring proactive personality, self-identity status, perceived others’ self-identity status, and proactive career behavior. After collecting data, SPSS 22 was used to analyze data by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression. The research results indicated significant gender difference in self-identity moratorium, perceived others’ self-identity moratorium, perceived others’ self-identity achievement, networking and consultation. Besides, regarding students in different grades, significant difference was found in proactive personality self-identity achievement, perceived others’ self-identity diffusion, perceived others’ self-identity moratorium, perceived others’ self-identity achievement, proactive career behavior. Later, the self-identity diffusion had a positive moderating effect between proactive personality and networking and consultation. The perceived others’ self-identity foreclosure had a negative moderating effect between proactive personality and networking and consultation. Finally, the perceived others’ self-identity diffusion and perceived others’ self-dentity moratorium had negative moderating effects on the relationship between proactive personality and career, skill development and planning. The results of this study could be used as a reference for teachers, coaches and other related personnel of university sports-related departments.
