Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 輔導與諮商學系所 === 105 === This study is to investigate clients’ verbal responses in counseling sessions to develop a model of client verbal responses using Mahrer’s Discovery-Oriented Research (1988, 1999). Research data is from 9 recorded 10-minute role play sessions of two Counseling Skills courses. A two-level model was found. The first level is the context of the verbal responses, which include personal experiences and non-personal experiences. Personal experiences are emotion, cognition, behavior and physical reaction. Non-personal experiences are facts and questions. The second level is the functions of the expressions. The expressions serve the functions of (1) indicating reason or consequence, (2) building social bond, and (3) expressing denial, agreement,or lost (or confusion). Based on the results, this study proposes suggestions to counselor training and consultation.
