The study site was located at the Shei-Pa National Park (Xuejian Recreation Area) in Miaoli, Taiwan. By means of flight interception traps, I set up horizontal transects (strata) along the road, part of the forest edge, and forest interior, and vertical transects (level) in structure at height of ground level, 4-5 m, and 9-10 m. A total of 42 traps were set up and all sites were sampled once every month. I evaluated the preferred home ranges of two saproxylic beetle (i.e., Cerambycidae and Scolytinae). Sampling results showed that a total of 10614 individuals, 64 species, 44 genera and 22 tribus which belong to Saproxylic beetles were captured and identified from May 2015 to April 2016. Among Saproxylic beetles, Family Scolytinae had 10560 individuals, 37 species, 21 genera and 11 tribus, whereas Family Cerambycidae had 54 individuals, 27 species, 23 genera and 11 tribus. In terms of spatial distribution, the species diversity of Scolytinae was much higher in the forest interior and canopy 9-10m, whereas the number of individuals caught were much higher in ground level than other habitats, and mainly were Anisandrus hirtus and Scolytoplatypus pubescens. Among Cerambycidae, the species diversity and abundance were much greater in part of the forest edge and canopy 9-10 m. In seasonal distribution, the species richness of Scolytinae peak from May until late August 2015. The number of species reached its highest point (i.e., 21 species) in July. Dominant species in terms of abundance were selected for further discussion: five scolytine species and three cerambycid species. Among the Scolytinae, the most abundant species, Scolytoplatypus pubescen , Anisandrus hirtus , S. calvus , Cyclorhipidion fukiensis , Xylosandrus germanus. Among the Cerambycidae the most abundant species Stenodryas clavigera impuncticollis , Dorysthenes igai , Pterolophia dorsotuberculare. This studies discovered that Cerambycidae was more easily influenced by forest edge effect compared with Scolytinae. Cerambycidae were mostly distributed in forest edge and canopy 9-10 m, whereas Scolytinae were predominantly found in the forest interior and canopy 9-10m。 Lin Chung-Chi 林宗岐 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 64 zh-TW
