碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國際政治研究所 === 105 === To cope with changes in its internal and external environment, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative for China’s economic development and regional long-term planning in 2003. In the viewpoint of geo-politics, OBOR can connect economic circles between Eastern Asia and Europe and accelerate the free flow of goods, personnel, services, and capital along the routes. Besides, this initiative can help both the distribution of resource and integration of market more efficient, and improve economic co-ordination and cooperation among OBOR states. This thesis, analyzing the cases of AIIB and OBOR, aims to explore China’s goal, planning, and challenge of regional economic strategy. It concludes that OBOR has political, economic, and social effects on regional states. Given this situation, it also changes the existing cross-strait economic relations, and appeals to Taiwanese merchants who want to invest China or explore new market in OBOR routes. However, One-China policy is still the vital obstacle for Taiwan to participant AIIB and OBOR. Facing this change in regional political economy, Taiwan government would not only keep tracing on potential risks of OBOR to prevent negative impacts of national interests, but also try its best to progress negotiation and cooperation of Cross-Strait affairs for prosperous future.
