Nowadays, gender imbalance and misogyny have become omnipresent in Chinese society. In this context, the gender consciousness presented in contemporary films is particularly worth researching. This study selects 30 contemporary Chinese films which released in the last decade and obtained outstanding box office results as the research object. It uses content analysis to extract the misogyny in samples, and then to explore the relationships among basic information of the films, images of women and misogyny. In addition, this study will construct a tentative measurement scale about “misogyny”,which could be uesd to classify the correlated phenomena in mass media. The main achievements and results of this study are as follows: 1.Constructing a tentative measurement scale about “misogyny”.From Level 1 to Level 5, the degree of misogyny increases in sequence, and all levels are defined as :Level 1 “Women should be burdened with family work”,Level 2 “Women have illiberal spouse-selection views”, Level 3 “Women are given responsibility of procreation”, Level 4 “Women are the object of view”, Level 5 “The traditional gender stereotyping of women is reinforcing”; 2.Overall, the stereotype of women in contemporary Chinese films is still obvious. And romances are especially hard to get rid of the inherent role logic; 3.“Misogyny” generally exists in contemporary Chinese films, but it is often whitewashed by intricate dramatic conflicts and plots. 鄭自隆 學位論文 ; thesis 120 zh-TW |
