Summary: | 碩士 === 國立政治大學 === 金融學系 === 105 === In recent years, the cryptocurrencies have been flourishing and have more than 1000 categories. The representative of all cryptocurrencies is bitcoin. The market value of bitcoin accounts for more than 90% of the total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies. Therefore, this study is with the theme of bitcoin, based on the case study method, it introduces the birth of bitcoin, the characteristics and applications technology of bitcoin, the issue, acquisition and transaction of bitcoin, the analysis of the value and circulation of bitcoin, the discussion on the regulation of bitcoin in various countries, and raising some suggestions about supervisory methods of cryptocurrencies.
This study concludes that bitcoin originated from the people’s distrust of the legal tender. Bitcoin has the characteristics of decentralization, anonymity, robustness, scarcity, exclusive ownership, irreversibility, transparency and global circulation, and bitcoin is a kind of currency. Bitcoin has actual liquidity, the number of bitcoin users has exceeded 10 million in the whole world, the number of bitcoin-accepted regions has reached 9,283, the number of bitcoin accepted stores has exceeded 100,000, and the number of bitcoin users and the number of bitcoin accepted businesses have risen consistently. Bitcoin also has real value, and it can reduce the transaction costs effectively. It can save about 424.09 billion US dollars a year if the international remittance changes from the traditional way to the bitcoin system. It can save about 206 billion US dollars a year if the payment changes from the traditional credit card to bitcoin system. Quite amazing! At present, the governments all over the world do not see eye to eye on bitcoin, but bitcoin is legal in most countries, and the trend is recognizing the legal status of bitcoin gradually. Bitcoin cannot be shut down by the outside world whether it is banned or not. It is better to give bitcoin legal status and then take it into supervision.
