However the day and night shift type of work affects their lifestyle and health . Objective: To explore the status of health promoting lifestyle profile and its related factors in nursing assistants in long-term care institutions. Methods: This study applied a cross-sectional design focusing on all nursing assistants from 18 long-term care institutions at Taitung area, using self-reported by the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II questionnaire to collect data. Results: Data were collected from 137 nursing assistants, resulting in 110 valid responses. Majority were women (70.1%), aged between 40 and 50 years old (33.6%), high school graduates (58.2%), have dependent children of 2-3 or more (52.8%), Self-perceived Health Status was ordinary (60%), year of service was about 5 to 10 years (30.9%), did not participate in health promotion courses (54.5%) and without regular exercise habits (71.8%). The mean score of overall health promotion lifestyle was 139.25±24.14 (on a maximum scale of 208). The highest score was on the aspect of the self-actualization, followed by interpersonal support, nutrition, health responsibility, stress management, and the lowest score was physical activity. Multiple regression analysis found the major factors influencing the health promotion lifestyle scores of nursing assistants included regular exercise habit (p=0.045) and self-perceived health status (p=0.006). Conclusion: Regular exercise habit and self-perceived health status of nursing assistants in Taitung area were strongly correlated with their health promotion lifestyle scores.
