The purpose was to evaluate the circumstances between with and without using the respite services according to the questionnaires result. The research was agreed and the assisted by Pingtung Commonalty and Association for Mentally Disabled. The population of this research was focused on the primary caregivers who hold cases of the people who owning the identification of intellectual, developmental disabilities and autism, the questionnaires were issued by purposive sampling of 420 in total, with the effective response rate of 94.76% in 6 invalid and 398 valid samples out of 404 collected questionnaires. The descriptive statistics is applied by SPSS with the analysis of one-way analysis of variance, independent-samples T test and Chi-square test. As the result of the research: 1. The primary caregivers choose to live together with their clients, there were no obvious differences with the age level, gender, living area, educational level and marriage status of the primary caregivers. 2. Different results of caring burden are able to be found from different age level of primary caregivers. The average is higher if the age level of the caregivers is high. 3. The average is higher than the primary caregivers who are single, married / cohabitation and divorced / separation if the primary caregivers are widowed. 4. Higher average of care burden can be found if the primary caregivers live with the disabled people. Higher average result is also can be determined by whether there are secondary caregivers involved or not. 5. According to the analysis from the different relatives caring, the highest average of care burden can be found if the primary caregivers are taking care of their parents. 6. There will be better healthy states on the primary caregivers according to the comparisons between using and not using the respite service. 7. There will be better mental states on the primary caregivers according to the comparisons between using and not using the respite service. 8. There will be better interactive relationship states on the primary caregivers according to the comparisons between using and not using the respite service. As suggestions: 1.To advising the service providing organizations to advance the quality and opportunities of service promotion in Pintung and rest Southern area and also the activeness and the understanding of the project to the service operators. 2. To advise the primary caregivers who are widowed to have the priority to provide cares and to be the assistance of respite care services.3. To diversify the services, the functions of the clients need to be considered and providing eligible services to their age other than basic services of safety caring and meals.
