The purposes of this study are to explore: (1) the differences of social support and life adjustment among demographic variables of adolescents in placement agencies; (2) the relationship between social support and life adjustment. Social support sources (significant others) divided into school teacher, school classmates, institutional staff, institutional peer. The researcher use Social Support Scale, and Life Adjustment Scale, to survey 124 adolescents (junior high, senior high/ vocational high; junior college grade 1 to 3) in the placement agencies of Kaohsiung and Pingtung area.
After the data were collected, SPSS19.0 statistical software was used to conduct the validity and reliability of the scale, and was analyzed by Descriptive Statistics, t- test, ANOVA, and Pearson Production-moment Correlation. The results of the study are as follows:
1. The factor structures of Social Support Scale and Life Adjustment Scale were not consistent with the constructs of theory.
2.Peer support is the highest than other sources of placement agencies Adolescents.
3.Placement agencies Adolescent girls' peer social support was significantly higher than boys
4.Placement agencies Adolescents’ peer support of high school / vocational / secondary vocational is significantly higher than secondary school .
5.There are no significant differences in social support among adolescents with different placement time.
6.Placement agencies Adolescent girls' peer life adjustment was significantly higher than boys
7.There are no significant differences in the life adjustment of adolescents in different grades
8.There are no significant differences in the life adjustment of adolescents in different placement time.
9.There are significant correlations between social support and life adjustment of adolescents in placement agencies.
